AtelierKerstin Laibach - Schopfheim

The Laibach Atelier / Gallery in the Black Forest, Germany.

(NOTE: Kerstin Laibach still has a private workbench in Dorset, England.)

About the Atelier / Bespoke Consultation Information

Kerstin Laibach's German crafting studio / gallery is situated in the beautiful old town area of Schopfheim; a "gateway" town of the Black Forest just north of the Swiss border and east of the Rhine Valley's French border. The studio is a converted tractor shed and historically part of the old local hemp trade.
Since opening in early 2014 it has become an inspiring focal point for jewellery and art lovers, with its combination of appealing design and relaxed ambiance ... a tranquil space to discuss client commissions.

Wedding Couples ... the First Strike of the Hammer...
Couples are invited for a personal consultation with Kerstin - and for long distance visitors, accommodation and other amenities can be arranged. As an additional service, wedding couples can put their hand to the very first stages of forging the raw recycled precious metals of their new rings, by rolling, heating and hammering. This key moment in the pure hand-making of your new rings can also be professionally photo/video documented.

If you are planning a visit to the studio for consultation on wedding bands or other bespoke design please call in advance for an appointment. During your visit please allow approximately two hours for discussion.

German Atelier/ Gallery Location

The Laibach atelier in Schopfheim is situated just off a small square; slightly set back at the end of the main shopping street by two restaurants. There is plenty of car parking and cycle space in the square.
At the studio you can bring in your pieces for repair, browse collections and discuss wedding bands and bespoke design.

Kerstin Laibach is happy to meet new and current clients by appointment (or if you are in the area please ring the bell in case you can be seen straight away).
The studio / gallery is at:
Hauptstrasse 73
79650 Schopfheim
Germany

Schopfheim is a short drive (35 minutes) or train journey from Basel Airport (Euro Airport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg)

Note for Kerstin Laibach's UK clients.
Kerstin's private workbench in Dorset remains, therefore client meetings in London and the south and west of England can always be arranged.

What You Can Purchase directly from the Laibach Schopfheim Atelier / Gallery

For security purposes most Laibach pieces and example rings on display in the atelier are made in recycled sterling silver. You may however straight away purchase some silver display pieces (also through this website) which do not require essential sizing / fitting.
For security, ethical and quality reasons, all requests for pieces in high-end precious metals / gems are hand-crafted to order as no high-end precious metals or gems are kept in stock. Each piece is made individually and Kerstin Laibach will source only the necessary amount of recycled precious materials and gemstones required for each individual hand-forged piece.

In the near future, there are plans for part of the atelier to also serve as an intimate gallery space. We will be occasionally selecting high standard ethical artists who exclusively use vegan friendly materials to present some of their works.

Atelier Environmental / Vegan Credentials

The Laibach atelier / gallery has been sympathetically renovated to enhance its original historic form. All materials used are vegan friendly including wall paint and furnishings. Wherever possible, natural plant fibre materials have been used rather than man-made. New electric and structural fittings have had to be used where health and safety regulations require it. Otherwise, most furnishings and fittings are antique or reclaimed materials. Electricity is supplied via the local renewable energy service (hydro, solar and wind). Gallery lights are LED and occasional supplementary kinetic lighting is often provided by own-made organic soya wax candles. Unfortunately the shadowed positioning of the atelier offers no practical possibility to run its own supplementary solar energy supply. The Black Forest is an alpine climate and in winter is cold and snowy. A minimal amount of heating is provided by previously installed gas central heating but we regularly utilize the building's old wood burning heater system. Wood is obtained from nonnative coniferous trees from the Black Forest which are now been felled and replaced with original native trees to help restore the forest ecosystem back to its natural state.
