Jewellery rejuvenation From Repair to Rejuvenation and Complete Redesign ... a completely ethical approach

Atelier Laibach's use of reclaimed jewellery items, or even broken pieces of them, ideally illustrates a mode of crafting which is truly in tune with today's environmental responsibilities.
If you have disregarded pieces over ten years old (which do not contain any animal derived elements) and which you would like to see formed into something fresh and breathtaking, Kerstin Laibach can completely deconstruct and redesign your old jewellery into a new piece to suit your taste.
Whether it is basic remodeling or integration of a reclaimed keepsake object into a new design piece, almost any form of constructive jewellery modeling is possible.

Kerstin Laibach Redesign ExampleRedesign

The piece shown here illustrates a customer's wish to retain an aspect of a broken piece of costume jewellery. The only salvagable element, which the customer particularly desired, was the blue "stone". After peeling away the unusable parts, the enameled "stone" turned out to be a piece of domed copper. Kerstin Laibach designed a new brooch / pendant surround in recycled silver and stone-set the blue remnant in traditional style.

For more information about creating new pieces from self-gathered stones or keepsake items see here.
For additional information you can also contact us to request a Laibach Atelier PDF Brochure.
See the Sending Information page about sending us pieces for redesign.

Reverse of piece shows a handmade double pin attachment to prevent drooping on garment, including a flip-stop for easier pinning. Also incorporates a chain loop for converting to pendant.

Restoration / Repair

Laibach also specializes in restoring antique jewellery from the past three centuries. If a piece is missing or damaged on your jewellery it is most likely we can reconstruct it. Please note however that lost stones etc, cannot be substituted with new (based on Laibach ethics). Used or lab-created stones can however be used as substitutes, supplied either by you or us.
In most cases, chains and necklaces etc. can be lengthened or shortened, connectors repaired and ring sizes altered.

Responsible Recycling

Laibach may accept old jewellery (precious metals) for responsible recycling also based on the ten year threshold principle. Your old gold and silver for recycling will be credited towards the cost of your new Laibach piece.

Reclaim

When available, Laibach's reclaim pieces can be found on the collections pages.
Reclaim pieces are newly designed pieces made from remnants of old jewellery originally made (to the best of our knowledge) more than ten years ago - and often much older. None of the Reclaimed jewellery collection contains any animal derivatives but may contain precious stones (only reclaimed from old jewellery over the
ten year threshold principle)
