HOME... A UNIQUE ETHOS » LAIBACH PRINCIPLES » SLOW JEWELLERY

Real, Slow Jewellery and a Holistic Approach

In direct contrast to global exploitation caused by consumer and economic overload, the "Slow" movement, is an inspired term to help us reconnect with a natural pace of life. "Slow" can also help to evaluate the lifestyle and working mode of the more ecologically aware, and it's an ethos which harmonises well with Kerstin Laibach's principles, demonstrating how tactile, environmentally-tuned care can produce a mode of jewellery that lasts lifetimes instead of just seasons.
Slow jewellery, as expressed by the Laibach principle strictly means intricately crafted pieces made in a time-honoured manner, resulting in long-term wearability and appreciation. By definition, this level of fine jewellery making, fused with an exacting environmental ethos takes time to produce. Our own principles are guided by what the balance of nature requires; treating it responsibly without destroying it. This in turn dictates the mode of the Laibach business: environmental care, continual ecological research and the pastoral, non-invasive vein in which we operate.

AUTHENTIC HOLISTIC METHODOLOGY.
From the thought to the physical end result we like to feel that a Laibach piece is rendered as part of nature rather than something opposed to it. Particularly with natural surface gathered stones, the jewellery creation process must tune into the harmonic of the organic forms it is using. The healing stone/gem trinket trade has abstracted the term "holistic" with detrimental effects to its true meaning. We have no relationship with commercialised "holistic jewellery", which exploits the mass-marketing of gemstones and crystals. Such elements extracted with force from the earth, causing environmental damage and subsequently trafficked globally, cannot be quantified as "holistic" since its tainted nature does not contribute to the well-being of the "whole".
The purest holistic undertaking we offer you is the construction of a jewellery piece based around your own surface gathered pebble - perhaps picked up when strolling along the beach or riverside. Such a cherished memory, lovingly crafted into a jewellery piece, is the cornerstone to achieving a complete sense of well-being through what you wear while simultaneously connecting with the spirit of the natural world.
Whether you opt to have your own pebble set into a piece or seeing how the crafting principles of all Laibach pieces harness the whole balance of nature, the ultimate goal we always aim to achieve is a truly holistic approach to goldsmithing.
With your
wedding and partnership rings we explain the importance of a genuine ethical approach throughout the entire making process ... and this also encompasses holistic methodology, particularly if you would like your rings made from family inherited wedding bands - either using the gold to create a new piece or redesigning the original. We encourage our wedding clients to consider this more intimate and subsequently environmental and holistic approach, to harmonize with your ethical wedding plans.
