Slow Jewellery and a Holistic / Anthroposophic Approach
In
direct contrast to global exploitation caused by consumer, economic
and "designer brand" overload, the "Slow" movement is
an inspired term to help us reconnect with a natural pace of life.
In turn, it leads to the rediscovery of true intrinsic values
and in this case awareness of what defines purely handcrafted
fine jewellery.
Wherever genuine, trend-proof handcraft may still exist, "slow"
can reveal the expert skills of raw human tactility. By this we
mean the ability to hand-make fine objects with absolute intricacy
and equitably without the push-button short-cuts of clinical computer
aids, ready-made / factory machined parts and casting.
A "slow" passage towards unique creative desirability
ultimately reveals the gift of a true artisan who can hand-forge
a beautiful thing that instinctively appears right to the eye
and feels perfect to the touch.
Those with true acumen and finesse will recognise these qualities
in a genuinely hand-engineered piece of fine jewellery; the skill
to create masterworks entirely by hand without the aid of computer
design, factory-made parts or multiple casting.
Naturally, perfection of such high caliber takes "valuable"
time to create.
"Slow" can also help to evaluate the lifestyle and working mode
of the more ecologically aware - and all aspects of this ethos
harmonise exactly with Kerstin Laibach's principles, demonstrating
how tactile, environmentally-tuned care can produce a mode of
fine jewellery art that lasts lifetimes instead of just seasons.
Slow jewellery, as expressed by the Laibach principle and uniquely
fused with an exacting environmental ethos, strictly means intricately
crafted pieces made in a time-honoured manner. It may take longer
to create such works but the results are without doubt special
and personal, which age beautifully for long-term wearability
and appreciation.
Kerstin Laibach's principles are guided by the directives of nature;
treating it responsibly without destroying it. This in turn dictates
the mode of the Laibach business; genuine environmental care through
continual ecological research in a pastoral and non-invasive vein.
As Kerstin's principles explain, she does not cast, plate or use
any factory made parts when hand-making her pieces ... and does
not use computer software to design or make it either. Only recycled
precious metals and stones are used and never new-mined. No animal
derivatives are used in any aspect of the making of a Laibach
piece and all jewellery and crafting processes are ecologically
earth-friendly.
TRUE HOLISTIC
METHODOLOGY...
A STONE THAT IS PRECIOUS WITH PERSONAL MEANING.
From the first
thoughts to the physical end result, all Laibach jewellery art
is rendered as part of nature rather than something opposed to
it.
Particularly when working with natural, uncut, unpolished surface
gathered stones, Kerstin Laibach's jewellery creation process
must tune into the harmonic of the organic forms it is using.
The purest holistic* undertaking Kerstin Laibach offers you is
the construction of a jewellery piece based around your own surface
gathered pebble - perhaps picked up when strolling along the beach
or riverside. Such a cherished memory, lovingly crafted into a
jewellery piece, is the cornerstone to achieving a complete sense
of well-being through what you wear while simultaneously connecting
and synchronizing with the pulse of the natural world.
Whether you opt to have your own pebble set into a piece or seeing
how the crafting principles of all Laibach pieces harness the
whole balance of nature, the ultimate goal Kerstin Laibach
always aims to achieve is a truly holistic, bio-vegan
(a world first) approach to goldsmithing.
ANTHROPOSOPHIC
Kerstin also
intergrates anthroposophic elements into her crafting methods,
which is also occassionally suggested within her designs particularly
with some of her Angel
pieces. Ecologically
she brings the assymetric constructivity of anthroposophical jewellery
a stage further by ensuring that, notibaly, all tourmaline and
other stone based pieces are made using only reclaimed stones
- not new-mined - along with her strict principles of only using
recycled precious metals.
TRUE HOLISTIC
WEDDING AND HANDFASTING BANDS ...
With your wedding
and partnership rings
Kerstin explains the importance of a genuine ethical approach
throughout the entire making process ... and this also encompasses
holistic methodology, particularly if you would like your rings
made from family inherited old jewellery / wedding bands - either
using the gold to create a new piece or redesigning
the original.
Kerstin encourages her wedding and handfasting clients to consider
this more intimate and subsequently environmental / holistic approach,
to harmonize completely with your ethical wedding or handfasting
plans.
*NOTE: It is
important to understand the stark contrast between a Laibach "holistic"
creation and commercial "holistic gems". The healing
stone/gem trinket trade has detrimentally abstracted the term
"holistic" and diluted its true meaning. Laibach ethical
goldsmith artistry has no relationship with commercialised "holistic
jewellery" that exploits the mass-marketing of gemstones
and crystals. Such elements extracted with force from the earth,
causing environmental damage and subsequently trafficked globally,
should not be quantified as "holistic" since its tainted
nature does not qualify or contribute to the well-being of the
"whole".
