CHILDREN AND JEWELLERY - SAFETY GUIDELINES
To avoid risk of injury
or death, including choking from pendants and strangulation from
necklaces, we advise you not to dress your baby or child in any
kind of jewellery.
Although Atelier Laibach offers jewellery to celebrate special
occasions for young children, such jewellery should only be considered
as ceremonial ornaments and should not be worn by a child until
he or she is of a responsible age.
Jewellery bought for ceremonial occasions should only be dressed
on a young child during the ceremony itself and under close supervision.
The jewellery should be removed immediately after the event and
placed out of the child's reach. Risk factors must be assessed
for any special occasion where your child might be dressed in
jewellery and responsible parenting is advised.
REMEMBER:
A necklace can cause strangulation if caught on protruding objects.
A pendant, earring or any jewellery presents a choking or other
internal injury hazard if placed in the mouth or swallowed.
A young child should not wear a ring until they are fully grown.
They will quickly outgrow a ring during their early years which
could cause irreparable damage to fingers.
Atelier Laibach can
hand-make on request chain necklaces which may be suitable for
children over the age of two. The chain has two unsoldered links
so it can more easily break away from the child's neck in the
event of catching on protruding objects etc. However, an easy-release
chain should only be considered a basic precautionary measure
to help protect your child from injury. We would still advise
parents and guardians to only allow children over the age of two
to wear any such items under supervision and only for special
occasions.
Please note that with
any jewellery we sell, redesign or repair, Atelier Laibach will
not be held responsible for any subsequent damages, injury or
loss.
